SMILE TRAIN

A  NGO from USA providing free surgery to the poor with Cleft lip and Palates world over. SmileTrain has its centers in India too. I am the local Director of the Smile Train Project and so far operated on more than a 1500such cases. Cleft lip and palate surgery in Andhra Pradesh has taken a new path leading to improved outcome with entry of SmileTrain centres. Cleft lip and palate surgery awareness in Guntur as well as rest of Andhra Pradesh has risen multi fold after advent of Smile Train to India and all the states are having SmileTrain centres. The Smile Train apart from providing free surgeries, trains the partner surgeons through encouraging participation of Partner surgeons in World Congresses, Workshops and training activites. The SmileTrain has sponsored such programs in Texas, Taipeai and Brazil and also many programs in India were held.

Is a scheme for extending help to voluntary organizations, NGO’S and governmental institutions, in their responsibility to treat the poor in need of surgical / medical help. Organizations like those listed below bring in patients for free surgery from many parts of Andhra Pradesh.

“Rajeev Arogyasree”

Rajiv Aarogyasri is the flagship scheme of all health initiatives of the State Government with a mission to provide quality health-care to the poor.

A successful project launched by the past Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh state,  Sri Late Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy to make expensive surgeries accessible to the poor. This project’s unique feature is that the state pays for free surgeries and I am a participant surgeon with this scheme. This project is running successfully in Andhra Pradesh and providing role model for other states of the country.
